Hartman/Friend Baby Shower-08.30.08

Yesterday, my two sisters, Kelli and Nanci and my mom, Barb threw a shower for Matt and I at the Roundhouse in Aurora. There were about 30 people in attendance including family and friends. It was so much fun! Baby Harper got so many nice gifts including a rainforest swing, several handmade blankets, some essential one piece outfits and a lot of jungle animals to play with!
So we are pretty much ready for the baby to come with the exceptoion of a couple of furniture pieces and a lot more clothing!

By the way, why don't you leave a comment of if you think Harper will be a boy or a girl?

This is Spinal Tap! (not the band)

I have a really patient husband. Last week, I found out I had to have a spinal tap to measure the pressure in my head (my optic nerves are swollen) and I freaked out! I have never had anything wrong with me and have never been in the hospital, so I automatically thought the worse of this procedure. I had nightmares and was in a cold sweat yesterday morning. Matt was brave enough to come in the room with me and be a support! Long story short, I had to have an anesthesiologist due the procedure and it ended up not being as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think a shot of Novocaine at the dentist's office is worse! Good news is that my brain pressure is normal! Yeah!

So now the fun part is sitting back and letting the doctor's decide what the heck they are going to do with me.

Thanks to Matt, Aimee and Jenn for dealing with my emotions this past week!

1st Shots of the Nursery...

We are busy over here....thanks for your help Erica!!! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Lundeen for the crib! It is gorgeous!

90 Days to Go-Update!

With 90 days to go until Harper arrives, we are tackling the nursery and all of the things that need to be assembled. The crib is the first big challenge; we have read all the directions and studied all the parts. We will post a picture when it is finished.

Last night at the Neri "Wopstock" Family reunion, I realized that not everyone may know what has been going on with me this summer. Let me start off by saying that Harper is fine and healthy as we far as we know and have no need for concern.

Back in May, the optometrist at Pearle Vision took pictures of my optic nerves (the nerve that runs from my eyes to my brain) and found that the left one was swollen. He mentioned a condition called psuedotumor cerebri. He let my OB know of the condition and then she referred me to the opthomalogist. He looked closer at my eyes and saw that both optic nerves were swollen. He then referred me to a neurologist. The neurologist then did some simple sensory tests on me, which I passed all of them. The next step was then to have an MRI and a spinal tap. The MRI was clear and now it is on to the spinal tap. Needless to say, I am extremely nervous to have this proceedure done but I guess it will prep for labor early! All of this is to make sure that the right decisions are made for labor and delivery for Harper and me. I hope to know what the outcome will be by the end of August.

Matthew and I have baby showers on August 30th (PenningtonFamily) and October 5th (Lundeen Family). We can't wait to figure out all of this baby stuff!!

"He's Gonna Be A Soccer Player!"

No! We did NOT find out what we are having. It is just a good quote for how I have been feeling. The baby has definitely starting kicking much more frequently. Especially, when I am getting ready to go to sleep.

I have several doctor's appointments to assess some things that are happening with me while being pregnant but nothing to worry about.

The baby's heart beat is still very good and I have another ultrasound on the 23rd. Between 28-33 weeks I will be having a 3D/4D ultrasound. I will then be able to post the ultrasound pictures on the blog! YEAH!!!!

P.S. Baby Showers coming our way in October!!! We are registered at Target and Babies R' Us...

1st Ultrasound

Okay so this week's update is not going to be very exciting. We did have our 1st ultrasound today and got to see little Harper. The lab tech kept on saying that he/she was all curled up and she could not see everything she needed to see. But we saw the heart beat (150), 2 arms, 2 legs, a head, a butt and the bladder and some other internal organs. I am hoping to get the ultrasound pictures on a computer file so I can post them on here! 'Til next time!

17.5 Weeks

We had our 2nd doctor's appointment yesterday. Heartbeat sounding strong and Matt and I are both getting the feeling now that it is a boy. Yes, yes, we are praying for a healthy baby first and then a boy. ; )

We have a name picked out. Matt and I are huge Ben Harper fans and have decided on Harper James/William or Harper Ann. I was pumped about having a name people had not heard of yet but I am now learning about a Disney Channel Show and a LOST character having this name.

As of now, we are still at 219 E Lincoln and we are going to begin working on a nursery over the summer. The theme will be jungle animals.
We will have an ultrasound update in about 2 weeks!!!

We're Having A Baby!

Hi Family & Friends! I am new to this blogging thing. I thought it would be a fun way to share our info with you without having to clog up your email box. Read and enjoy at your leisure!

Well everyone pretty much knows we are having a baby! We are expecting him/her to arrive around Nov. 15th! Just in time for the Pennington Thanksgiving Exstravaganza in Saint Louis. I am hoping this is still happening.
We have decided that we are not going to find out what we are having. There aren't many surprises in life... and we really like a name that works for a boy or girl but we are keeping our options open.

My first doctor's appointment went well on May 15th! We heard the baby's heartbeat briefly and we talked a lot. Mostly the doctor told me not to listen to all the women who have their own pregnancy story. She has an email program that I can email her directly and she will get back to me within 24 hours.
We are really excited! It is so cool to see how much our family and friends are supporting us and how excited they are too!
